Good Morning Everyone.
I am writing this, close to 0000H.
Chill spot after work; the staircase in front of KLCC. Haha.
I have exactly two weeks before I will return to Sarawak. So back to residential college, back to busy schedules, back to flowing ideas from elsewhere.Sometimes it's nice just to stop doing what you normally love or hate to do, and think about the things you have done so far.
Like making reflection of yourself. Planning ahead what you need to do and your next follow up action.
I quitted working so I could focus on my fitness, for rugby and a reserve army I joined.
Also writing an essay, for a competition.
It's not the money I go for. It's to see my capabilities, how far it can go.
But some people, don't understand me sometimes. The way I think, the things I love, why I preferred elegance over hipster fashions, why I love writing, why I love classical music, why do I like old things.
Stuff.
I wanted to write this because I have a message for all Malaysians. Who talks about "judgemental society" and so on.
First of all.
If I were to picture my blog in a real life, it would be an old cafe that is full of books.
Archiving many things from the past.
Coffee after long time.
past mistakes I made. New things are meant to bring some impact in my life. As I seek adventure, challenges that makes
me strong.
For some of you, you may have came here to look for something to read. Others might come here to seek personal motivations
or reading people's thoughts.
During my highschool years, even in my matriculation years, I presented ideas in presentations that people have never
thought about. I didn't say other people's ideas are bland or what, but I provided another look or point of view.
Like I did a paper on "Pure Science vs. Social Science" when I was in matrics since I saw Malaysia was so into
Science and Mathematics, but most of us did not know about social science field.
Analyzing people, demographics, et cetera. These things are both qualitative and quantitative. But they don't really have a definite answer, with a concrete evidence or findings. It is subjective, but it was the best answer possible which provides an alternative for choices and decisions for people to make.
Because ideally we want things to be perfect. But we can't. Democracy, Socialism, even Communism, practiced anywhere else in this world isn't in its "best form".
Yet the country choses that particular ideology because they think "it may not be perfect, but it works".
I found it hard sometimes to express my views, because most of us love to put an immediate conclusion rather than researching. They love judge first, rather than have a look onto what is the problem.
And most of us only point out what is the problem rather than pointing it out and suggest a solution for the problem.
I don't see how two wrongs make a right. As for the society I currently lived, the certainty of being judged based on what you do and what you are definitely is high.
How you view my writings, my poems, my blog and everything I put up here is basically your point of view. I have nothing to against that. Here, is like a shop full of antiquities. You buy my views here. I gain nothing than happiness of knowing people are my writings. Even if it just a matter of people who can be counted by fingers.
Second.
I only wish the best for Malaysians.
It takes several years for a nation to know itself and solve its problems. United States had a 5 year war on slavery.
France, even after its Revolution it would take years to know what kind of system fits them for all, giving birth to an ideology called "Conservatism".
Many more countries that I could point out, that they needed time to realize what kind of society they are, what kind of people are we consisted in our own sovereignty. And yes, they still do fight over things between them about issues such as legalizing LGBT, immigration laws, etc.
Yet they are able to talk, discuss with each and everyone of them, done with a touch of respect without hate, fear or negative feelings.
What is so different from them and us?
They have different cultures too. We have different cultures too.
They have different people with different religions. And we have that too.
Why can't we solve things diligently without feelings of hate, fear and discrimination?
We all different. Even if we come from the same ethnicity or religion, our views of the world would still be different.
But it's still possible to live together in this world. It's still possible to express our likes and dislikes, without having to resolve radically or violently.
We are known for a very long time for our multi-ethnicity, religion and culture.
Centuries to decades and years under colonialism, we've finally owned a land where we can call it our own.
If you're a Chinese, you could go back to China and live as a Chinese citizen.
If you're an Indian, you could go back to India and live as an Indian citizen.
If you're a Malay, you could live elsewhere in Malay Archipelago like Indonesia, or live with Champa communities.
But I really doubt so because each countries owned their own kind of nationalism.
The question isn't about being able to live like one if you're "like one".
The question is, would they accept us as part of their own?
Where would you go?
This is our home. Inilah rumah kita.
It is imaginary as Anderson says. We created "races" from ethnicity, believing that races are created from blood of where they come from. We created borders and a land where we draw lines as "sovereignty" so that we could distinguish the borders of our nation and others.
It's not just about embracing our differences. The era we lived is different.
Embracing our differences is not enough to understand other people's differences.
It is understanding. It is giving and take.
In that way a greater happiness can be achieved. It's possible to achieve harmony, peace and stability even if we had different mindset, taste or even ways of thinking.
That is what's lacking inside each everyone of us.
When we say things, we often say it for our own needs. We often say it because we think we are right.
Sometimes we need to give up certain things to achieve a greater good.
Sometimes we needed to sit down and think back because we are not always right.
That is all I guess.
Wow. It's 2.49AM.
